For Grafityp 2020 is more than just a jubilee year

Not only will the company be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020, it is also conducting a complete re-branding in all its communication. As apotheosis, the new CEO Patrick Nijs (56) will also start on 1st March. He comes from Vasco Group, the group above radiator manufacturer Vasco in Dilsen-Stokkem, where he was also CEO. Nijs started his career at ALZ. Later on he became CEO of the Dutch family business MCB International, which is active in the metal sector.

After half a century Grafityp is still a family business. Today the shares are held by four persons: Herman Bosman (who took over the management temporarily after his retirement), his wife Rosa and their daughters Patricia and Brigitte. Both daughters are employed in the company – Patricia as HR and Safety & Health Manager, Brigitte as Sales Office Coordinator – but have no ambition to lead the entire company.

That is why an external CEO was hired four years ago. “Our roads separated again at the end of last year. The view of him and the family were too far apart”, Patricia Bosman explains. With Patrick Nijs we bring in a new top man, who has also led a family business in the past.
