Cimpress agrees to acquire National Pen

Xerox names Steve Hoover Chief Technology Officer
Xerox has named Steve Hoover, as chief technology officer, effective Jan. 1, 2017. Hoover currently serves as chief executive officer of PARC, A Xerox Company. Hoover will be responsible for research and product development, reporting to Jeff Jacobson, CEO of Xerox following the company’s separation. In this role, Hoover will oversee the Xerox global research centres including the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), the Xerox Research Centre Canada and the Xerox Research Centre Europe, as well as Xerox’s globally distributed product development and engineering capabilities.

New Managing Directors at Mitsubishi HiTec Paper

2016 European Direct Mail Market Report

Messe Düsseldorf reconstructs southern section
Supervisory Board and the shareholders of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH have approved plans for the complete reconstruction of the South Entrance and, subsequently, Hall 1. Werner M. Dornscheidt, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, is pleased: “We can now implement our Masterplan for the complete modernisation and renewal of the premises at our home base – and indeed, as always, without subsidies.” The investment volume of this southern section is EUR 140 million. In all, Messe Düsseldorf will invest around EUR 636 million until 2030. The work will start in May 2017, after interpack, and should be completed in summer 2019. The design has been created by the Düsseldorf-based architectural company slapa oberholz pszczulny architekten.

Ghent Workgroup (GWG) announces the release of Ghent PDF Output Suite 5.0 for testing and adjusting PDF output workflows with color management in order to be fully compliant with PDF/X-4. Ghent PDF Output Suite 5.0 helps determine whether workflows are behaving as expected, and identify errors in a fast and easy way. It is distributed as a series of PDF patches that can be applied by end users of graphic arts equipment as well as developers of applications handling PDF files. Each patch is numbered and contains tests for one specific property. The patches can be used individually but most patches can also be grouped together. Therefore the most important part of the Ghent PDF Output Suite 5.0 package is a six page PDF with an amalgamation of 48 patches ready to start testing immediately.

Successful realignment for Heidelberg reflected in strong incoming orders at drupa
As expected, the first quarter of financial year 2016/2017 (April 1, 2016 to June 30, 2016) at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) was shaped by the industry trade show drupa, which took place in late May/early June. Under its “Simply Smart” motto, Heidelberg took the industry’s digitization and thus the company’s strategic realignment to the next level. The new products and solutions resulted in a high demand for all the company’s offerings related to industrial print production and digitization. Accordingly, incoming orders rose to € 804 million as at June 30. Compared to the previous quarter, the order backlog, which is a measure of the Group’s future operational development, increased by 67 percent from € 460 million to € 768 million. This strong demand is a solid basis for achieving the targets for the year as a whole.
